"For Cosmetologist & Estheticians" Which is a better bet with the economy.. and Why?>>See Below?

In a perfect world.. I would prefer skin care and the intense focus on it.. which would be Esthetician Program.. However.. there is a combination of people stating they aren't able to find work.. or left then came back and can't find a job.

I was told by the Cosmetology School that Esthetics is part of the program. You are later on licensed to do facials and body wraps.. once you take the boards. I also was told by the same school that you can take facial and body wrap classes at Beauty Suppliers who hold them.. and some promote their lines. Which give you more experience.

However.. My Question is.. I would like to rent a room or space in a salon or spa even. But.. I don't want to do hair.. If I had to.. I could give trims or a basic cut.. wouldn't mind doing nails or pedicures.. but my main interests are skin .. body wraps.. make up.. and I may go for eye lash extensions later on as well.

I would not mind working from my home.. However with the Cosmetologist license.. you have to work in the field for a few years.. but with the Esthetician you can do it right away... once you have enough clients.

My main concern would be.. If the economy is slow .. like it is now.. and people aren't as willing except for the well to do.. ones.. to buy the facial ..and body wraps.. But.. say mostly waxing.. I may start to think... I am limiting myself no?

Someone told me to specialize as in Esthetician.. But.. will a spa or salon hire a person with a full Cosmetology License.. to work only as an Esthetician? I would think that the more you can do.. the better for them.. Although there are not nearly as many hours spent on facials or skin care then the Esthetic Program has.. would that pose as a problem?

I would think.. even if I were to work alone.. isn't it better the more services I can offer?

I just read a blog they were talking to an Esthetician.. however after reading the article.. I

realized that she had a full Cosmetology License and called herself an Esthetician. She was in fact.. both.. but.. she indicated she rented a chair or room.. and did it all.. Manicures.. Pedicures.. etc. She also went to a 10 month program which was a Cosmetologist. She wouldn't be able to rent a chair in a salon if she only did Esthetics.. She did a combination of service. Not much hair though...

I suppose if you rent your own chair you don't have to do hair if you choose not to right?

Please tell me what school choice is best with the Economy and why? Also.. would I feel competent enough to provide Esthetic services.. to a client.. not have put in the number of detailed hours.. as the Esthetic program?

Thanks
