1. Fruits and Vegetables. Dr. Murad recommends that you should have at least 3 or more portion of fruits and 5 portions of vegetables daily. These two food groups are rich in antioxidants useful in restoring your destroyed skin cells. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also rich in trace minerals and B vitamins that are responsible in reconstructing new cells. They are great sources of liquid that your body needs.
2. Whole Grains. This is the next food group in the cellulite food pyramid of Dr. Murad. These are very essential suppliers of vitamins and minerals that your body needs in order to help in the proper metabolism of carbohydrates, fat and some types of amino acids. The daily recommended allowances for these types of foods are 4 to 8 portions. These are very good substitutes for rice, pasta and bread. If you want to eat rice, bread or pasta, make sure that they are made of whole grains.
3. Proteins. This is the third group in Dr. Murad’s food pyramid. These groups of foods give your body the most needed amino acids it need. They support the natural nutrients to develop collagen and elastin which are responsible for the strength and texture of your skin.
4. Fats. Your body needs good fats in order to make your skin hydrated, firm, young looking and healthy. You must take-in fat in moderation because when taken in excess, it can pose great risk to your health. You can limit your fat intake for at least 3 to 4 servings daily. The so-called healthy fats are the unsaturated ones rich in omega-3 and fatty acids. The sources include flaxseeds, extra virgin olive oil, canola oil, and other oils that are derived from nuts. They are useful in maintaining the balance and functions of other nutrients.
5. Supplementation. This is considered number one in the list of Murad’s food pyramid. These food supplements are very important in restoring your destroyed skin cells where other nutrients cannot function. Food supplements are very important because it can help in inhibiting your skin’s imperfections.
Following the cellulite food pyramid may be hard for first timers. However, once it is placed into practice, you will get use to it. You just have to regard how you want to change the appearance of your skin in order for you to get motivated. Discipline and patience is also required if you want to prevent those ugly sights from coming.
